KTEN Television, the NBC/ABC/CW affiliates in Denison, Texas, has an opening for a full-time Weekend Meteorologist.
Summary of Duties
- Responsible for gathering weather information for various newscasts, digital and media platforms.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the content and presentation of weather information, both on-air and on digital.
- Responsible for the creation of visually engaging weather graphics and maps to help our viewers completely understand weather conditions and forecasts.
- Keep abreast of new information and technology that would enhance the presentation of weather information, graphics and animation.
- Must be proficient in social media and digital communications.
- Ability to work any shift is required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Experience as a meteorologist is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field required.
- Certified Broadcast Meteorologist credential from the AMS preferred.
- Significant hands-on experience with weather computers.
Physical Requirements
- Good eyesight and hearing.
- Ability to walk up stars and sometimes long distances.
- Ability to lift weights up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to sit for a long period of time.
- Ability to handle often stressful situations under deadline.
- Good manual and overall physical dexterity.
