Lockwood Leadership
David A. Hanna - President
Mr. Hanna joined the Lockwood business family in 1986 as General Manager of the Lockwood Marine Corporation. He was responsible for all the sales and marketing of this division of the Lockwood companies. As a result of the tremendous growth and success of this division a buyer approached Lockwood and purchased all the assets of Lockwood Marine in 1992. Rather than accepting a role with the new company Mr. Hanna was retained by Lockwood to find and develop other businesses with principal owner James L. Lockwood, Jr.
In the fall of 1992 Lockwood Broadcasting was formed and Mr. Hanna was named President. The company initially acquired low power television stations in underserved markets with the intent to distribute programming from the two emerging networks -- UPN and The WB. Lockwood Broadcasting eventually bought and sold several full power stations over the next several years. In Norfolk Virginia Lockwood acquired WJCB from a group of investors and then quickly sold it to Bud Paxson for more than double their investment made just months before. With proceeds from that sale Lockwood acquired NBC affiliate KTEN in Sherman Texas, WAWB in Richmond Virginia and eventually WLYJ in Clarksburg West Virginia.
Mr. Hanna was a member of the UPN Affiliate Board for 4 years and served as its President as for 3 years. He also currently is a member of the CW Affiliate Advisory Board. In January of 2007 Lockwood sold its Richmond, Virginia CW Affiliate WUPV (formerly WAWB) to Southeastern Media. With some of the proceeds from that sale Lockwood Broadcasting invested in its state of the art central cast facility in Richmond. Currently the company is looking for more television stations to add to the growing group. Mr. Hanna is responsible for all mergers and acquisitions of the group and oversees the general management team he has assembled in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Hanna holds a BS in Journalism from West Virginia University. He is married and has two daughters.
