
Lockwood Broadcast Group Acquires WBXX in Knoxville from ACME
RICHMOND, Virginia – February 1, 2011 – Richmond, Virginia based Lockwood Broadcast Group announced today that it has signed an agreement with ACME Communications to acquire WBXX-TV of Knoxville, Tennessee (DMA #59) for an undisclosed purchase price. The transaction will close later this year upon receipt of FCC approval. ACME was represented by Cobb Corp.
In making the announcement, Dave Hanna, President, Lockwood Broadcast Group, remarked “we’re excited about the addition of this outstanding property to our group – we think the market and the station present a tremendous opportunity for our company. WBXX-TV, affiliated with the CW Network since 2006, launched in 1997 as an affiliate of the former WB network.
Lockwood Broadcast Group was formed in 1995 and also owns the following television stations: WQCW-TV (CW in Charleston-Huntington – DMA #64); WHDF-TV (CW in Huntsville-Decatur – DMA #79); and KTEN-TV (NBC, ABC and CW in Sherman-Ada – DMA #161).
